The Role

The Role of the Test Engineer at GForces is to design, build, test, and deploy effective test solutions that help facilitate shared team goals. Working in a dynamic, cross-functional and multi-national Agile team comprising of varied stakeholders.


Test Engineers are involved with testing a range of different software products ranging in scope from complex analytical data structures from Amazon Web Services (AWS), to intricate data API’s as well as enquiry systems, CMS, and stock management platforms.


Primarily responsible for preventing defects by working with your team to build quality into the delivery process. Working with Software Engineers, Product Owners and Scrum Masters to establish the testing requirements of the team.


Test Engineers will also contribute to the testing of newly developed features, and guiding defects through the evolution of branch through to release testing and deployment.

Taking part in agile ceremonies and planning activities the Test Engineer will be responsible for defining and implementing the tests that ensure the platform’s features are developed to meet the specified functional, performance, security, and reliability requirements. You will write test scripts, design and implement test processes, and managing their continued improvement to deliver scalable and maintainable tests building in automation where possible.


Implementation of automated scripts is important to developing new testing strategies to help improve the team’s efficiency and evolution.


Key Responsibilities

  • Working with your team to ensure quality is built-in throughout delivery.
  • Analyse requirements, establish testing requirements, design, and execute tests.
  • Providing input for planning and estimating work within Product Teams.
  • Typical tests may include system testing, user acceptance testing, technical architecture testing, security testing and test automation.
  • Develop, update and maintain testing standards and procedures across the delivery team including documentation.
  • Record and report on issues and key metrics.
  • Work with the application team and/or client to resolve any issues that arise in the delivery process.


Experience and Skills


Essential Skills

  • Willing to learn new skills
  • 2+ Years experience in testing
  • Understanding of English, spoken as well as comprehension.
  • Fundamental/Intermediate level with JavaScript or other web languages.
  • Proficient with MySQL or another database technology.
  • Understanding of design patterns and implementation of automation test frameworks using web languages for testing web apps (e.g. POM).
  • Experience across testing layers - UI, API / Service, Data.
  • Proficient in black box testing, functional testing, integration, system testing, release testing, exploratory testing, and cross browser testing.
  • Experience with SDLC as well as testing life cycle, writing test scripts and executing tests.
  • Good combination of both automation and manual testing experience.
  • Planning, creating and maintaining tests suites.
  • Proficient in requirements analysis and feedback.
  • Proficient using Version Control Systems (GIT)


Advantageous Skills

  • Experience of working with English speaking teams
  • Experience of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure & GCP)
  • Experience of serverless architecture
  • Proficient in using Linux CLI / shell scripting
  • Skilled in Atlassian based products – JIRA Confluence and Bitbucket
  • Experience of automating at scale
  • Experience of using CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, TeamCity, CodePipeline etc
  • Managing test environments
  • The ability to apply behaviour driven testing (BDD) / Test Driven Development (TDD) approaches.
  • Experience of BrowserStack / CrossBrowserTesting / SauceLabs.
